Competition is not a requirement of membership in CMR HOSA, but it may provide the chance to learn a new skill such as suturing or CPR or to learn about a different area of healthcare, such as nutrition. Whatever your interest, HOSA likely has an event for you. Members of HOSA travel to state competition as a group every year, and every other year, participants who win a gold medal in their event at the state level have the opportunity to attend the national convention held in June.
In order to attend the state competition, CMR HOSA students must fulfill certain requirements. For the 2019-2020 school year, these requirements are:
10 regular HOSA meetings (meetings are held every other Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.)
2 guest speaker meetings
10 hours of community service
Complete 2 hours of fundraising or sell 10 truck raffle tickets or two stadium blankets
C+ grade average
CMR HOSA will facilitate the acquisition of these requirements by presenting opportunities for fundraising and community service during meetings. To see a timeline of such events, visit our calendar.
